We offer membership engagement events, speakers series, educational opportunities, exhibits, member only board meetings, and more. This event will be a casual discussion of a chosen article and will provide time to network with other participants.  Joya Rush-Keli will lead the discussion on the article titled “Why Old Women Have Replaced Young Men as the Art World’s Darlings” by Anna Louie Sussman, Jun 19, 2017.

    The program is a collaboration between Huron River Art Collective, Women's Caucus for Art Michigan Chapter, and the Detroit Society of Women Painters and Sculptors and is free and open to all members of  any one of the collaborating organizations. The we, the collaboration hosts, an invited speaker event every other month. On alternate months we will host a casual discussion and net working event. All events will be held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7-8pm.

    Together, we support and empower women in their pursuit to gain equity in the arts, assure diversity, equity, and inclusion with a special interest in supporting women of color and all persons who identify as women.

    Speaker Series: Joe Lee, Photographer

    March 15, 2021

    A professional photographer and artist for over 40 years, Joe's photographs have been called imaginative and unique, covering everything from commercial photography to abstract, landscape and portraits. Joe has owned several businesses and also managed nonprofits. He taught photography at the Vista Maria Academy in Dearborn and is the host of the monthly Let's Talk Photography Art Shares for Huron River Art Collective.


    Joe took his first photograph when he was about 8 years old. His love of photography is driven by the ability to freeze moments in time which you can never recover but through the art of photography.
