WORKSHOP: Watercolor

Watercolor for all levels is a 6-hour workshop and will take place in the Collective's new space located at trustArt Studios at 7885 Jackson Road, Suite 1, Ann Arbor, MI 48118. Suggested supply list below.
Member fee is $40
Public fee is $44
WATERCOLOR SUPPLIES
Supplies can be found at: Utrecht’s, Dick Blick, Michael’s, Daniel Smith (online), Cheap Joe (online), JoAnne’s Crafts, Art Supply Warehouse (online), Jerry’s Artarama (online)
If you have time, supplies are much less expensive if you order online. Most catalogs will send you coupons for free shipping, etc., if you sign up for their emails. Also, going together with friends on an order will save shipping. Please email me with any supply questions: TMARILYNN@HOTMAIL.COM.
Watercolor Paint: Suggested colors
Cadmium red
Permanent Alizarin Crimson or Permanent Red Quinacridone
Ultramarine blue or French Ultramarine
Thalo Blue or Cerulean Blue
Aureolin or Lemon Yellow
Cadmium Yellow (deep or medium)
Burnt Sienna
Colors do not need to be exact to above as long as you have: red, blue, yellow, green, burnt sienna ( a sample set is available at Michaels or Joanns that will work fine)
Brushes: suggested:
¾” – 1 ½” good quality flat paint brush Optional)
#3 or 4 watercolor round artist quality sable or synthetic
# 8, 9 or 10 watercolor round artist quality sable or synthetic (Taklon)
2 brushes are needed a small and big brush that you already have will work fine
Paper: suggested:
9” x 12”, 12’ x 16” or 12” x 18’ watercolor block or pad or one sheet is fine
140# cold press. Arches is best, Strathmore brown label is almost as good
What ever paper you have already should work if you do not have the above suggested paper
Other supplies:
Two cans or jars for water (to clean brushes)
Palette for holding paint and mixing it – plastic palettes sold in art supply store with at least 7 small wells and mixing area. ( a plastic or regular plate will work too)
Pencil
Pen for tracing image (some folks like a red pen so they can easily see what has been traced)
Ruler
Sponge
Old toothbrush
Pocket knife or Xacto knife
Drawing board for paper support if you don’t have a watercolor block (anything to hold the paper such as Gatorboard, foam core board, Plexiglas, plywood, Masonite, or even cardboard larger than your paper)
Masking Liquid (Liquid frisket, art masking fluid, many brands, not cheap, use a coupon if possible) ( If it’s not possible, I can supply some.)
Pen nib for applying mask, 512 or 513 EF, in drafting supply at Michael’s (I will have some if you can’t find one)
